The Panama Convention Center welcomed more than 5000 visitors

Panama City, October 24, 2023 - The Panama Convention Center (PCC) is proud to be the site that hosted the 2023 World Robotics Olympics, playing a fundamental role in the selection by offering a world-class space that meets all the necessary characteristics to host this event of international magnitude. .

For three consecutive days, from November 7 to 9, the Panama Convention Center hosted more than 5,000 visitors, including students, teachers and tutors from more than 90 countries. Additionally, the PCC contributed significantly to the local economy by creating a total of 770 direct and indirect jobs, positively impacting Panamanian families.

The General Director of the Panama Convention Center, Rodolfo Del Valle, expressed enthusiastically: “It was an honor for Panama and the PCC to host these Olympics and receive all these young people, educators and mentors from many countries. These Olympics were an opportunity to show the world the talent and potential of Panamanian youth, as well as Panama's commitment to STEAM education."

Since its application in 2019, Panama has been immersed in a selection process led by a coalition headed by the First Lady of the Republic, the Ministry of Education and FUNDESTEAM. The selection of Panama as the venue for this event is achieved after a rigorous competition in which Panama triumphed over prominent contenders, including Turkey, Mexico, the United States, Puerto Rico and two Asian countries.

With an impressive exhibition area of ​​15,000 square meters, a capacity of up to 23,906 people, 16 adaptable rooms and a large banquet area, the PCC meets the standards of a world-class space. From audiovisual services to a specialized technical area, the PCC offers a complete experience.

This year's theme, "Connecting the World," highlighted the importance of conserving our natural resources, especially aquatic resources. The projects presented this year promoted innovative solutions to mitigate solid waste in our oceans.

The World Robot Olympiad (WRO®) challenged teams of young people ages 8 to 19 to apply STEAM knowledge through educational robotics, encouraging logical thinking and creativity.

The Panama Convention Center continues with its commitment to promote meeting and convention tourism as an engine of change for Panama in different sectors and promote in the best way the creation of jobs for all Panamanians, being generators and promoters of a circle of progress for the country and this type of event represents a significant milestone in this mission.

Considered one of the largest structures in the region for congresses and conventions, the PCC, with a privileged location and unbeatable value, is a building that has 15,400 square meters of exhibition area, a 4,000-square-meter banquet hall and 2,400 square meters in total of 16 meeting rooms, 1,700 parking spaces and a kitchen with the capacity to serve up to 5,000 diners.
