The Panama Convention Center works to reduce its carbon footprint

Panama City, December XX, 2022- With the purpose of maintaining a sustainable management of its business, the Panama Convention Center (PCC) team carried out a training session on waste management and disposal, in order to be prepared to implement actions that contribute to the reduction of its carbon footprint. carbon, in line with the 2030 agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals.

More than 30 people who work at the PCC participated in the training session provided by Recimetal (including staff from the center and the company in charge of cleaning services), where topics related to waste separation and classification were taught, which are the basis for the implementation of waste management programs.

We have the challenge of making a difference, and being a benchmark in this matter, contributing to the conservation of the environment and the growth of communities in a sustainable manner”

 

With the strong commitment to stay at the forefront of new trends and standards in the comprehensive management of solid waste, the Panama Convention Center has properly equipped areas for the collection, classification and disposal of waste generated during events such as such as assembly supplies, decoration and/or food, among others. In this sense, there are properly marked containers to facilitate a better disposal of materials such as plastic, paper, glass, metal, disposable and organic material.

 In this context, the PCC has very clear lines of action aimed at: 1) Collection, treatment and distribution of potable and residual water that is reused for toilets and irrigation systems in green areas; 2) Rational use of electricity through the use of led lights with motion sensors and maximum use of natural light; 3) Recycling Pilot Program where work is carried out in an articulated way with different organizations and universities that allow it to enhance its results and model environmental culture in young people as agents of social change.
